THE GUIDE

Ten years studying
animal behaviour.
Now I study users.

Before becoming a UX/UI designer, I spent five years as a zookeeper at the Singapore Zoo and another five years as a wildlife consultant. Those years taught me to observe behaviour, recognise patterns, and understand how environments shape actions.

Today, I bring that same curiosity into UX design. Every project begins with understanding people, uncovering the real problem, and designing solutions that fit naturally into their environment.

The case studies below are snapshots from that journey. Each explores a different design challenge through research, iteration, and testing.

SIGHTINGS

Three projects.
Three challenges.

Below are three design projects, each tackling a different context, a different challenge, and a different kind of problem to solve.

Case Study 01
Job Portal · Location Feature Design Reducing friction in location-based job search

Reducing friction in location-based job search

Recruiters at FindSGJobs' outdoor career booths spent around 30 seconds on every location check, manually copying job addresses into Google Maps while jobseekers waited. Proximity to home was one of the first questions jobseekers asked, yet the portal offered no way to search by distance. I designed Jobs Nearby, a Google Maps inspired feature, that lets recruiters and jobseekers filter roles by radius, view distances at a glance, and get directions in a single tap.

Key Outcomes
Reduced the time needed to identify all nearby jobs from repeated 30-second location checks to around 20 seconds using a single map-based view.
Integrated "Get Directions" directly into the workflow, eliminating the need to manually copy job addresses into Google Maps.
Jobs Nearby is now available on Jobs Anywhere @ North West, powered by the FindSGJobs platform.

Reimagining Bus Commute for Parents Traveling with Young Children

Parents travelling on Singapore's public buses with young children face safety and comfort challenges that the current bus design doesn't adequately address. As part of a team of four, we researched these pain points and developed two complementary solutions: a retrofittable booster seat and a redesigned bus interior colour scheme. I led the customer journey mapping, built the physical booster seat prototype, and facilitated user testing with parents.

Key Outcomes
Developed and validated two family-focused design concepts with eight parents travelling with young children.
The rear-facing booster seat emerged as the preferred solution during user testing.
Validated key pain points and design opportunities for improving the in-commute experience.

Case Study 03
Hospitality · Experience Design Reimagining the Pre-Arrival Experience for Guests of The Ascott Limited

Reimagining the Pre-Arrival Experience

The moments before a guest arrives often shape their perception of the entire stay, yet the pre-arrival experience typically receives far less design attention than the stay itself. As part of a team of three, we reimagined The Ascott Limited's pre-arrival journey across both digital and physical touchpoints. I led the design of the Digital Keycard, proposing a native mobile wallet solution for room access instead of a standalone app, and facilitated five user testing sessions.

Key Outcomes
Redesigned the pre-arrival journey across four connected digital and physical touchpoints.
All five participants rated the experience between 7 and 9 out of 10.
The Digital Keycard and guest preferences form emerged as the most well-received concepts during testing.
